Compare two texts (diff)

Compare two texts and see the added and removed lines or words, with a unified diff you can copy as a patch. Fast Myers algorithm, runs in your browser.

Runs locally — nothing is uploaded
Result
Paste the original and the changed text.

How to use

  1. 1Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right.
  2. 2Compare by line (code, lists) or by word (prose).
  3. 3Read the highlighted changes or copy the diff.

Myers’ O(ND) diff, the one git uses, after trimming the common start and end. Very different large texts fall back to anchoring on lines that occur once in both.

In line mode a unified diff (---, +++, @@) that patch tools understand; in word mode the text with [-removed-] and {+added+} marks.

Windows and Unix line endings are treated the same. Spaces are compared exactly.
